Este jueves, en el draft de la NBA, los Ángeles Lakers hicieron historia al elegir al hijo de LeBron James, LeBron Raymone James Jr. o más conocido como Bronny, como número 55 en la elección de 2024. Sería la primera vez que padre e hijo jueguen juntos en la historia de la National Basketball Association.
Bronny James, el primogénito de 19 años de LeBron que estuvo durante la última temporada en los Trojans de la Universidad del Sur de California (USC) de la NCAA, tuvo que esperar casi hasta el final de la segunda ronda para ser seleccionado.

De igual manera, todavía no está asegurada la dupla padre-hijo: The King podría convertirse en agente libre en dos semanas, si no ejecuta la opción de jugar para renovar con los Lakers por un año más y 51 millones. Fue una temporada decepcionante en los Lakers, y es por eso que LeBron James está analizando sus posibilidades para el próximo curso.

Una de estas opciones podría ser aceptar la oferta de la franquicia angelina para extender por tres años su contrato recibiendo así de 160 millones de dólares. Además, se estima que la llegada de Bronny al equipo será seguramente un factor clave para que el jugador más veterano de la NBA con 39 años decida seguir en Los Ángeles.
Bronny disputó 25 juegos -se perdió los primeros ocho por un ataque cardíaco que sufrió durante los entrenamientos de verano- con los USC Trojans esta temporada, mantuvo promedio de 19,4 minutos con un porcentaje de tiros desde la pintura de 36,6 por ciento, acertó el 26,7% de sus tiros triples. El jugador tiene una media de 4.8 puntos por enfrentamiento. En el rubro de asistencias tiene promedio de 2.1, 2.8 rebotes y robos en 0.8.
